Willow on Grand, an event center at 6011 Grand Ave. in Des Moines, can hold up to 300 people.

Willow on Grand, located at 6011 Grand Ave., opened in March. A garden center and a two-story residence that had been converted to other uses previously had been located on the property.

Taylor Boesen began White Willow Events in 2013. Earlier this year, Willow on Grand, an event center, opened.

The women’s restroom at Willow on Grand includes a white neon-lit sign and several mirrors.

A cottage next to the event center includes Taylor Boesen’s office as well as space to hold small meetings involving 30 or fewer people. The space will double as a place for the bridal party to prepare for a wedding, Taylor Boesen said.

“It’s always been our dream to own our own event space,” said Taylor Boesen, who operates White Willow Events, a wedding and event planning service. The open ceiling design includes trusses and piping, all painted white.

Willow on Grand, 6011 Grand Ave., was designed by ID8 Architects PLC in Des Moines. Kimberley Construction, based in Ankeny, was the project’s general contractor.
